The Name Behind Jace Space
Jace Space is a boutique builder that brings design intuition and construction expertise together to create homes with lasting quality. As we grow, our purpose remains the same: to create fewer, better homes — homes that feel like they've been built just for you, because they have.
Building runs in both our families. Declan's father and Téa's father were both builders, and Téa grew up around the industry — her dad was a highly respected Gold Coast builder who worked alongside some of the region's best architects. Declan entered the industry in 2015 and trained in two trades, plumbing and carpentry, before becoming a licensed builder in his own right.
Today, Jace Space is a genuine family business. Téa and Declan do the bulk of the work themselves, alongside a small group of trusted subcontractors we couldn't do this without. Our intention is to keep building a legacy through designing and building — with care, creativity, character and conversation.
Jace Space carries a name with real meaning. On 22 October 2022, we lost Téa's brother, Kyah Jace McDonald, in a tragic workplace accident. Kyah was only 21 — he'd completed his carpentry apprenticeship and was just six months into a new apprenticeship as a diesel mechanic when his life was taken far too soon.
Kyah is our reason why. He's the drive behind every job we take on, and the reason we put our full love, spirit and effort into every home we build. Jace Space carries his name, and a piece of him goes into everything we create. Thank you to our team, tradespeople, clients and suppliers for the support that's carried us this far — we can't wait to keep creating beautiful spaces together.
